Counseling

This is relatively brief treatment which focuses on one specific problem or behavior. We will work together to determine the most important issue to work on and the focus of therapy will be that issue.

Psychotherapy

A longer term treatment which is focused on gaining insight into chronic maladaptive ways of thinking of one's self and the world around you. In this kind of therapy, we focus on patterns of thinking rather than a specific problem.

Psychiatric Diagnosis and Treatment

Diagnosis is based on ongoing interviews, rating scales and meeting DSM IV-V criteria. Treatment may be medication related, therapy (at Catalyst or referral to an outside therapist) or both medications and therapy.

Medication Management

Medications are often used to treat mental disorders and may be an important part of your overall treatment. If medications are suggested all of the options will be fully discussed with you and the decision will be made as a team.

Welcome to Catalyst Psychiatry!

Our philosophy of care is to empower change within by looking at all aspects of you and your unique situation.
We strive to support you in attaining your goals by the following:

Accurate Diagnosis

Dr. Hamilton strongly believes that without an accurate diagnosis there is little chance for proper treatment. Your diagnosis is reached through detailed interviews, ongoing questionnaires and assessment. Diagnosis is based on DSM IV-V criteria.

Current Treatment

Treatments offered are evidenced based from the latest and most reliable studies (large, randomized, placebo controlled trials) as well as treatment guidelines published by the American Psychiatric Association. Options for treatment are thoroughly discussed with you and may include several options such as therapy, medications or both.

Tailored Treatment

Ongoing examination of the benefit of treatment and progress towards your goals is done through patient satisfaction questionnaires as well as rating scales developed for individual problems.

Coordination of Care

Coordination of care with your other health care providers (following HIPPA guidelines and patient preference) including your primary medical doctor, any specialists you may be seeing and other mental health providers to ensure comprehensive and safe treatment.
